Choir Werewolves

I never do a retreat without this game now.

Thanks to Priya Parker’s brilliant book The Art of Gathering, I discovered Werewolf about 6 years ago. It’s a fairly simple game, related to the popular party game Mafia. It forces collaboration, discussion, close attention, and more.

It’s easy to pack the deck of cards. I just wrapped up three rounds with the Aces, and as always, I was impressed by the way personalities came out. Even in the context of a game in which everyone is playing roles, they learned more about each other.

It’s chaotic in the best possible ways, it’s easy to learn, it’s inexpensive, and it’s fun. I’m already looking forward to tomorrow night’s rounds, and I’m anticipating playing during parts of some rehearsals later in the year.

Highly, highly recommended to add into your choir team building toolbox.
