There doesn’t need to be an objective or obstacle for team building to occur.
Sometimes all you need is a celebration.
Christmas is a busy time of parties for all sorts of groups: work, church, social, family.
A few hours in the same room, not working on “work” can strengthen the bonds your group needs to perform when it does get back to work.
We can resist the desire for choir parties, banquets, and mixers as just more events we have to plan and execute, but before you give them the axe, consider the benefits they offer to the rest of your year.
I’m looking forward to the fourth annual Rockford Aces+Alumni party tonight: a party to celebrate this ensemble, combining current and past members. It’s great for camaraderie, for continuity, and for connection. I wouldn’t give it up for anything.
