How did this happen? I’m here at my least favorite day in having a select choir.
Auditions are a necessary evil, but they are an inevitable source of disappointment.
This year, I moved my audition day for my ensemble from the first week of school to the last week, so this is the second audition day this school year.
Here is what I want to say to everyone who auditions:
You are worthy. Who you are is not the same as who you are in a five-minute audition, and the results of the audition have zero bearing on that. If you aren’t selected, keep trying.
I’m looking forward to a fabulous year of music-making, but in the meantime I and these students must jointly suffer through this unfortunate barrier.
