We are all complicated, with lots of different skills and interests that we can choose to display or conceal in our audition. Once you get past the question of performing well, you get to a much more interesting questions.
Young singers focus almost exclusively on making their audition sound the best that it can.
More experienced performers know that they can make many things sound good. So then, the most important question is this: What story do you want to tell in your audition?
Do you want to accentuate your vocal range? Show off your virtuosity or your versatility? Tell a dramatic story? Leave it all in the audition, or leave them wanting more?
