Don’t wait on creating your alumni list.
It’s incredibly helpful, I find, to have a list of past students. To contact, to reminisce, and someday, to plan reunions.
It’s going to be a lot harder to make that list if it’s in the run up to a reunion; looking back from ten years down the road is a tricky proposition. Even with social media to help, it’s a struggle.
Here’s what I do. Every year when I post audition results, I add names to a running Google spreadsheet. I have columns for name, graduation year, cell number, email address, and a column for years in this group. That year contains a formula; every year I create a new column that is checked for every student in that year. For example, Column Q is labeled 2019-2020 and is checked for the 13 Aces who were in the group that year.
With a little bit of work once a year, I have a great document that continues to serve me in countless little ways.
