I’ve been having trouble putting words around how proud I am of my wonderful students in the Rockford Aces. They sang their hearts out for an audience of friends, colleagues, and heroes at the ACDA Michigan Fall Conference. They worked so incredibly hard, and have made such remarkable strides in nine short weeks.
I’m so lucky to have amazing students, amazing colleagues, an amazing community, and an amazing family. Thank you all.
The Aces program included three pieces written just for the Aces (from myself, Alice Parker, and Michael McGlynn) and attempted to cover some of the range of repertoire that our group sings each year: it included Sacred Harp, folk songs, contemporary choral, vocal jazz (courtesy of Gene Puerling), a cappella pop (a la The Real Group), and concluded with a South African isiXhosa song, Indodana, which permitted us to collaborate with the EMU Choir who followed us on the concert program.
Here is the PDF of the full Aces ACDA program. What a way to kick off our 10th Anniversary year!
