A Journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
-Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching
But the first step isn’t the hardest. On a thousand mile journey, you’ll have times when you can’t see the destination and can’t see how far you’ve come. You’ll desperately want to quit.
Begin, yes. Make the steps small at the start so you can finish them easily. And then keep going. Take the hard steps a week, a month, six months later.
Anyone can run the first mile of a marathon. It’s keeping one foot in front of another for miles 2-26 that are hard.
