26.2

They say it’s that last 0.2 that’s the hardest.

And Seth Godin points out, it’s impossible to run a marathon and not get tired – so the challenge is to cope with the tiredness all the way to the end.

And since I finished that last 0.2 today, I can say this: the end isn’t harder than the earlier work physically or in the amount of time it takes. It was psychologically hard to finish, because I want it to be perfect and because I’ve been running this marathon for so long, it feels weird to stop.

And yet, we’ve come to the end. My first book is at the printer and soon I’ll have a couple hundred copies in my hand.

This was the most challenging and rewarding creative marathon I’ve ever run, and I’m incredibly proud to have made it to the finish line.
