2021 Roundup: My Writing Year

I wrote and published every day in 2021, with my streak now standing at just over seven uninterrupted years. This year, I wrote a little over 75,000 words – 6,000+ per month, or around 200 per day. In the midst of that, I also was able to take the entire month of July away from the site, plus a couple additional weeks here and there, thanks to pre-writing and scheduling posts. I’ve now published well over 550,000 words in more than 2,600 posts.

January: Work of a Lifetime
February: How Do You Handle a Piece You Don’t Love?
March: What’s The Point of a Chord Symbol?
April: Don’t Outsource Your Rhythm
May: The Only Still Ensemble
June: Be a Generalist
July: Shakespeare the Arranger
August: The First Day of School Isn’t the First Day of School
September: Wait, You Haven’t Listened To…?
October: Why Is This Important?
November: Future Musicians
December: Ctrl-A, Del

I also worked on the following 10-part post series, reading Priya Parker’s remarkable book The Art of Gathering.

Thanks for reading along with me! What stood out to you from my writing this year?
