It’s unbelievable how many 10-person choirs are out there!
I have a handful of my arrangements published through ArrangeMe via Hal Leonard – you can find them at Sheet Music Plus and Sheet Music Direct. At these sites, you purchase PDFs for download, and pay for each copy you make – one per singer in your ensemble. Of the ten most recent sales I’ve made, six of them have been 10 copies, so I guess there must be a lot of 10-person choirs.
On the other hand, ten is the minimum number of copies you can purchase. Is it possible that if ArrangeMe decreased the minimum to eight copies, there would be an increase in 8-person ensembles?
There is no perfect system, and I don’t expect to make a fortune selling my arrangements. But I won’t pretend it isn’t a little disheartening to earn 10% of sales of 10 copies when I’m sure the ensemble is 20 or 30 or 40 singers.
