Memorial Day

I hope, like me, you’re taking time to call to mind loved ones who have left us – especially those who served the country.

One of the most potent ways to honor the spirit of America is with song, and so I share with you this amazing bit of Americana, “Country Dances” by Ward Swingle.

Although Swingle was associated with singing groups in France and England, he was born and raised in Alabama. His “Country Dances” cycles through so many wonderful American folk songs – the core of our country’s musical story.

Today I honor anyone who has served my country – whether military, political, musical, educational, medical, and beyond.

I honor all those who have left our society a little better than they found it.
