Refuel Yourself – For Your Students

Part of the summer “vacation” is the act of refueling yourself.

Read a book, spend an afternoon on the beach, go to art festivals, visit family.

This refueling isn’t just for you – it’s for your students.

You’re rebuilding capacity that you have depleted all year. Refueling gives you extra patience, extra insight, extra energy to give.

Your students require it from September to June, and you give it because it’s what they need. But by the end of a school year, if you’ve done it right, your tank is on empty.

Particularly for arts educators, who every day are not only intellectually engaged but emotionally present.

Time to refuel, because come September, you step on the gas and there are no gas stations for miles.
