You know how to make your art. Whether you’re a composer, a conductor, and author, or a painter – you know all the finely balanced work that makes your art successful.
Other arts, you’re probably in the dark about. All the more reason to dig into other arts.
I don’t have any idea how to put a novel together – which is why I love to put the ones I read under a microscope. How do they work? How do tone, point-of-view, pacing, diction, and so on all play roles in creating a compelling story.
I can’t help but believe that learning to understand other arts – even types of art I will never create – necessarily inform and improve my own art.
Dig into other arts so you can create better art.
