Have a Partner

Yesterday I wrote about trusting yourself with your work. It’s equally important to have someone else you trust just as much.
Have someone who you trust to say, “that voicing sounds weird” or “this passage in the piano doesn’t work.” And believe them.
I spent three hours yesterday with my partner, talking about big-C Career thoughts. Insights and ideas flowed and nothing was too ridiculous to throw out. Because the trust existed, I could welcome criticism or different ways of thinking about a problem.
Maybe, like me, you are married to this person. Maybe it’s someone else in your field you meet twice a month for coffee. Maybe it’s an online friendship. Whatever it is, find someone you trust to help you find your path.
And be that person for someone else.
