Crisis Mode

Sooner or later, you’re going to have to get out of crisis mode. Can you imagine living without it?

We are trained to operate in crisis mode. The pace of movies, of television news, of our very days invites a constant sense of crisis. Certainly drinking from the fire hose of social media is a constant crisis-mode.

But it’s not the only way. Seasonality, space, human connection. Abundance. There is a way to rediscover this, and to give over at least part of your life to crisis-free living.

This weekend, I’m turning off the crisis-of-the-hour and turning that attention to the people and things I love. With luck, I’ll be able to carve out some time, too, for helping to make the long-term change I wish to see.
